Crutches

Crutches

Crutches are for support
When you're hurt.
They don't make you heal if you don't
Bandage your foot or
Brace your ankle.
You have to choose to deal with the actual pain.
Head on.
No distractions.
Don't just ignore it (hoping it'll go away)
All the while leaning on your crutches
Other things that help you cope.
While they're necessary- vital even
They don't fix the problem.
Crutches are good, but they can only take you so far.
You can't forget how to stand
On your own two feet.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
