    Dad

    So much alike,
    Yet we're so far apart.
Afraid it will end, before it can start-
I have a heart, it beats cause of you,
    in youth I'd depart,
    still you'd pull me through,
wish I could say what I keep inside,
    I'm hurt and I'm lost,
    stuck with your stubborn pride,
    I once almost died,
    you sat beside me,
    drinking your coffee,
you never said it but you thought you had lost me,
just want to repay you for all that you taught me,
but stay so ashamed of the actions that caught me,
want to be just like you took so long to see it,
tell me what you want and I promise to be it.
blame all the pain on fairy tales and fables, want to go back to rhose dinner tables,
    hindsights 20/20,
was it that simple, could it be?
I've worked and earned planty to make him proud of me.
I wish I was a father so I could understand,
give all I can offer turn a son to a man.
wish I could rewind all the problems in my mind, could say how I love you while there is still time.
