Daily bread

Daily bread

I desire no riches,
I desire no wealth,
I desire no prestige,
I don't even desire my-self,

I desire no power,
I desire no glory,
I desire no man,
and I don't trust his story.

I desire nothing the eyes can see,
nor anything the hand can hold.
It is better that I remain meek,
so that I may glorify the God of my soul.

I take no thought for the past,
nor for that which lies ahead,
for it is better to walk in the spirit,
and to trust God for my daily bread.

This is truly a great poem. Your love for God will surely touch the hearts of others. Stay blessed.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
