Poem Commentary

Just ignore this one... I hate dark and depressing poetry, but that's my opinion, and the ones I read weren't half bad, but they weren't what I thought was dark... Heck, they weren't even dark... They ended all happy...

Dark Poetry

Scoff Scoff Scoff, I hate all poetry
My life sucks, My life's dumb and it's all about me
I cut myself, I dream of her, my life's a dark party
The one I lost, it's all her fault, will anyone notice me?

Blood, Guts, and Gore, don't think of you no more
An angry story, a little gory, A creepy metaphor
some thoughtful parts, he broke my heart and all in between
it's all insane, abismal plane, it's all what I have seen

A stereotype I know it's true
but why is it so hateful
why can't it be with light, too
and be a little grateful

I've read some darks, and they're a lie
for some end up in the middle of light
happy and content, and not to vent, nor to even fight
And all is right

Dark poems we shouldn't write
I can no longer stall it
so make it less light
or change just what you call it

I get your poem, but perhaps your reading the wrong poets work if you are looking for dark poetry. There is one on this site, who I can not remember their user name, really did scare the sh*t out of me when I read their work. There are actually some very talented works on this site, just depends on the poet. I don't know how to write dark poetry, but had tagged a poem that way once because of my retarded humor. I don't know why it seems to be the hardest of all styles to write, especially for any like myself who grew up on King! I have read the vast majority of everything that man wrote, and am unable myself to write dark. I get your poem, when I'm looking for dark poetry, I expect to find dark peotry. Shame on you, for tagging this as dark poetry, as it is not...

I whole hardedly agree with you, there are times when I feel like I should just curl up on the sofa with a good cup of cold dark poetry. Yes, I was kind of a troll (a jerk) for naming it dark poetry, but it was for those people who think that life is awful. The exception to the rule if you will (The rule being that all poetry is thought out, and universally intangible (what it means to someone doesn't mean it's someone else's view)), but there are some people who ignore this principle and write dry blunt personal muck about themselves, their perceptions on life, and I wanted to vomit, first of all, at how awful it was, second of all, at how awfully descriptive it was. I also agree that I was probably reading the wrong poets...

A poem explaining poems of dark subjects nice great flow and love the read

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
