    Dark Skies

    Gray clouds drifting, sailing together pinned
    Tempest winds caressing the awaking skin

    Inhaling the brisk fresh air through nose;
    lungs expand and swell, like poetic prose.
    Distant thunder rumbles, cracks and rolls
    Lighting in the illuminated silvery clouds aglow

    A light tap, refreshing your spirit with a gleam.
    Sun-kissed drops sparkle in the misty steam.
    Water running down my delighted upturned face.
    Clothes cling and curves of the body it does trace.

    Don't fret and complain for the sun my friend.
    Rainstorms are a sweet life giver in the end.

    I enjoyed this piece. It reminds me of the many times my son and I sat on the back porch elated and entranced by a storm. I am naturally seduced by the power of storms.. You captured the essence of the storm Nice work.

    GentleT, my father is a UPC preacher, and so I grew up without a television - to my benefit!! I spent many a summer day on the screened in porch with a book, as the storm clouds rolled in - or down in the overflow ditch, playing in the muddy water as the rain poured. You have captured the very essence of these memories! Few of the children of today know the joy of playing in the rain! Great poem. A 'must read again' for me. Thanks for sharing. 10

    dude you are so right,few kids know the joys of something simple as playing in the rain.Once when we lived in Mineapolis,mn.It stormed so,the lights went out,it was in the evening about 5ish.It started to pour .we didnt have a drain on the roof so it came down looking like we lived under a water fall! The kids put on their bathing suit and went out,water was going down the street like a river stream because our streets were slanted.Now my kids are 26,19,and 16 and they still recall that day.They had fun.Whever it stormed when i was a kid pops cut off everything electric.Good idea, Huh?

    Another great imagery poem with vivid scenes and "oh so true" a message. Very sensual, and I can feel the electric in the air! Ginga

    What an honor you bestow to say that it made you feel it.

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
