    Poem Commentary

I wrote this as a gift for my daughter who turned 25 last year. Watching her grow through the years, has left me beaming with pride. She is not only my daughter, she's my best friend too.

    Daughter

    Precious little baby
    Precious little girl
Stole my breath and captured my heart
When you came into this world

The joy I found in your laughter
And the twinkle in your eyes
    Filled my heart with blessings
    No father could deny

As I watched you grow in wonder
    Inquisitive of what you saw
So eager you were to live and learn
That you filled my mind with awe

I've always tried to teach you
    The appropiate things to do
But it's important for you to know
That you have taught me too

There are times when this world gets heavy
And I feel that no one cares
It's times like these you reassure me
    That you are always there

It's the love of you, my daughter
    That keeps me standing strong
I'll forever keep you in my heart
    Right where you belong

This is a beautiful poem, which I can relate to. I feel the same way about my son. Children are precious.

This is absolutely perfect - this poem is beautiful, just as the love you have for your daughter is. I love it!!!

Beautyfull is all I can say. A perfect reminder of what a real father is.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
