Dead Filament

Dead Filament

I am living in a world, where the lights are always off.

I have looked far and wide,

For the source of the divide,

I can only conclude,

It is without.

It is as early as the creation, formed in the deliberation,

Of the boundaries and limits of the structure itself.

*

In the day I am reminded of the life I am to lead,

Weary and life sick,

Day unto dusk.

The turning of the tide,

Only serves to remind,

The lack of luck,

Self imposed unfulfilled blik.

*

By the day, lightning fast, an indescribable pace,

Too fast to note take,

An irascible blur,

Tempted to restrain,

Inner temptation and

Retain:

Sanity and self.

*

By the witching hour I am lulled, discontent into anarchistic, nightmarish nihilo.

I am forced to face the truth,

The unquenchable knowing,

Flowering in the shade,

Sheltered by the sun.

That I know nothing of the now,

And little of the then,

That I must grow and comprehend:

Love, life and the golden mean,

Are as a wind in a storm,

Indistinguishable from their fickle neighbours.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment! I wrote this one not long after a philosophy lesson so the language was whirring in my mind... I am always surprised when I read the poem back, just what has gone into it and why the thoughts organised themselves in that fashion. You are only ever as old as you feel or so I am told :). I am eternally grateful for your kind words! Narrator x

Confident structure and composition on display here. As DE notes below, you clearly have a pretty neat vocabulary, or access to a hefty thesaurus! Your style is slick beyond your years. I believe I have found a poet soon to become a favourite of mine.

Humbled. Thank you once again for taking the time to read. I was always told to avoid a theasaurus or risk using words I did not really know the meaning of :). Thank you again! I am fast becoming a fan of your own work, loved Coffee!

Impressive word choices throughout. Taking the reader through a clockwise toll of emotional exposings. One of those pieces that I had to re-read a second time, to make the moments stick more firm. Capturing meanings. Love how you displayed this in word.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read! Yes I didn't really realise quite how abstract bits of it were until I went back for a proof read. Thank you again, really appreciate the comments :) Narrator.
