Death of a Poet

One knocks on the window
Another pounds on the door
Just like the pounding in my brain
Bringing me to the floor

The storm rages inside
As is the devils delight
I crumble and plea for mercy
As voices scream through the night

Cloaked now in sorrow
Beginning to cry
Unwilling to let others see
As I curl up and die

As my body shudders
The pen shakes in my hand
Writing these last few incoherent words
Before leaving this land

Life is what you make it
As I could not see
The drugs lying beside my corpse
Told you what killed me

Riding this chariot
Taking me straight to hell
Pain and suffering burning through me
As the words I tried to sell

A powerful and emotional verse. Very direct and to the point. A serious look at a sad and tragic loss. Another Great piece!

I'm not sure it's worthy to take it that far, for the simple reason the poet could not get a just read... Then again, Vincent decided one of his ears didn't need to be there, else he be doomed to hear painful words in stereo... A good story of pain and sorrow for self though... Good write...

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
