Declaration of Self
I am not the Mayflower, Pinta, or Santa Maria. I am no ship, no "African Queen". I am an African Goddess. That would be Mother Africa, Mother Nature, America the Beautiful, and Lady Liberty. I am an African Goddess.A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
