She lost her dad at an early age
He drowned in a sea of alcohol
she held it in , the burning rage
"you'll see I'll show them all".
Mom was cruel in her lonliness
so she took it out on her only daughter
"your flesh is all they want" she stressed
Men are evil was her alma mater.
This girl grew up , she studied so hard
missed out on comraderie and innocent love
her true feelings she kept well guarded
tried and tried to pretend there were no scars.
Worked all the time , paid her way through school
in her JR. year met a guy that really cared
with him she discovered the tools
to open doors she'd never dared.
First friends then lovers, falling head over heels
they both had addictions but learned along the way
He asked her to marry him , good times they'd steal
He thought he could heal her with the sun's rays.
They had kids, life would never be the same
He was estatic, scared..she was along for the ride
their histories repeated, the old ghosts came
then she stumbled on her foolish pride.
Using him for his weaknesses, he needed her so
both in perpetual cycles of selfishness
the winds of change and destruction did blow
living through death he grew, he progressed.
It was a trick she thought she'd use for defense
depriving him of real love and companionship
He wanted and needed to make sense
but was stuck inside her financial grip.
When he was used up she threw him to the street
he was still blind to the things she'd done
from the bottom he overcame her defeat
He'd lost it all yet still he had won.
She tossed him away, but didnt understand
this new guy that she'd done this for
was only her idea of what made up a man
he uses her, she'd been better being a whore.
She uses her kids as pawns, still seeking revenge
thinking she should be some country queen
ever making mistakes, her liquor soul drenched
with two beautiful children stuck in between.
