DESPAIR

DESPAIR

What can this life offer me
besides sorrow and despair?
I wake up every morning
breathing toxic air.
I try to overcome it
and I struggle to be strong,
but the pain is so constricting
that I'm crying before long.
My body moves so stiffly
with neither destination nor thought.
I circle 'round my quarters
with my face strained and taut.
My throat is pained with sadness.
My heart, a barren place.
My mind is numb from any thought
and confusion has washed my face.
