Destiny
So many years ago, it seems,
But, it was only just yesterday.
I was packing my bags to leave
For the Great Beyond , when
A heavy-duty thought came my way.
Mine has been a lifetime full of living,
With the threat of dying, as well.
Holding tightly onto my precious grey matter,
And, my deep, red, throbbing heart,
It connects me somehow, do tell….
After all I have said and done,
Trying to complete this race I have run.
I have managed to carve a castle,
Out of this mountain we call life.
I have done my best with what I had,
Weathering storm and strife.
That little thing that we call life
Is near the finish line.
For me, that is just fine.
All that is left, to finish on time.
