    Poem Commentary

This poem was done for my English Honors 3 class last year. I forgot what kind it was supposed to be. But, she liked it because I got an A.

    Destruction

Humans are such vile creatures living amongst earth,
Pollution, a boiling pot of red flowers,
Bombs, killing animals and all forms of life,
    People addicted to various aspects,
Gases, explosions, and addictions are seen,
A dying population kills off its own,
No one has love for our planet anymore,
Everything turns red, and explosions occur,
All you see is bloodshed and violence around,
Is there anyone that's peaceful on earth?
No, I think not, all you can see is him, Death.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
