dissent

by unmaker

you've twisted my good intentions,
painted me to be a monster
and i'm weak,
so I'll break
but i would never hurt you
like you say i do

in misery i begged for you to
let me sleep another night at your feet
like a dog
i'm beat
but you bare your teeth and swallow me

you think you're good, you seem to be okay
but the way you can't forgive me is something i can't take
I'm not worth your pointing finger
I'm a killer and an honest thinker
don't waste your life trying to compromise me
cuz i won't be and can't be what you want me to be

when you come back to me
when you see the rainbow only leads to deeper lies
i'll turn my back and fight the tears
and do my best to never look you in the eyes

Tragic tale of wasted love. So often we fall in love with potential instead of reality. Nice to read your work.

Great flow and visual pain. I can feel the regret and emotion. I loved the line " don't waste your life trying to compromise me cuz i won't be and can't be what you want me to be" Nice work.

awesome

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
