    Domestic Violence

    The blood has scarcely dried..
    when once again..
    you take the stand,
    and strike me ..
    with your cruel hand!

    The pounding stops,
    as the blows continue..
I am numb to the pain,
    slumped on the floor..

    My eyes vibrate,
    seeing the pain..
    pass before them,
on the way to my brain...
    but the signal is severed
    by my psyche,
    of survival...

    The pain now framed,
    in an 8 X 10..
    like a picture,
    I'm lost on a wall..
    of a vacant house
    where no-one can see me....

    That was sad and heartfelt.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
