    Don't Cry

    We've been together
    For a long, long time
    Even when we were apart
You were always on my mind

    There was a time
When we walked hand in hand
With you right there beside me
    Love wasn't hard to understand

    But then the winds
    Of change began to blow
The flames of love have vanished
So now its time for me to go

    Don't cry
I can see the teardrops in your eyes
The way they come and freely flow
Makes it hard to say goodbye

In time, your broken heart will mend
    You'll rise above our ashes
And be free to love again
    So please don't cry

After all the storms we've weathered
And all that we've been through
How could I walk away just now
And not give my love to you

    Don't cry
I can see the teardrops in your eyes
The way the come and freely flow
Makes it hard to say good bye

    In time
    Your broken heart will mend
    You'll rise above our ashes
And be free to love again
    So please don't cry

Thanks for the compliment. A love song is exactly what it is.

It's a sad thing when we realize that sometimes the love we have found is not everlasting and we need to walk away.If we allow ourselves time to heal the brokenness though eventually true love will find us.Nice wording and great message about a sad and difficult experience in life.

Rise up from the ashes like a phoenix is reborn! Hard to let em down easy.... A simple and straightforward poem, honest and true. About a love that stopped growing. Write on.....

I loved this poem. It reminded me of one that I wrote. Mine was to my late husband, who was my first and only true love and soul mate.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
