    Down to pieces and parts

    How could you

    Not feel the start of the beat of my heart

     

    Where was your soul as our love took flight

    Over the darkest ridge and the highest height

    The things that you do and the things that you say

    Sting my face and my throat and bring tears to my face

     

    To you love is only the roll in the hay

    To me love is angels soaring at dawn of day

    I am sickened with discuss of pieces and parts

    Why break me and make me and tear out my heart

    I hear the rending of your heart from a dispassionate encounter. No punches pulled and a great canter to the flow. I wonder if you wrote this in tears.

    Wow Marion - Felt this one ... Yes men are pigs - it's in our nature .. but I disagree with Aria - I believe both men and woman want both - sex and love ... and when true love is found - they dance together in unison. :) Great write! ...Ken

    Of course, you are right, women and men both want sex. I think it is more the route we go about to getting it that is different, maybe. Maybe, also the way that it is remembered or appreciated could differ somewhat between males and females. But I have found here on OP a lot of poets that relate to it very similarly as I do, and they are men. So that is refreshing! Thanks for your supportive words.

    Dah, Thanks for reading and commenting and you exactly got the gist of my words. It's frustrating sometimes when love is reduced to mere pieces and parts and not exalted for what it truly captures and all that it can be. Thanks.

    I feel that mans maturity level has been retarded indefinitely, thanks in part to sports and video games. Your poem reminded me of that. To you love is only a roll in the hay - points out how, today, sex is commonly mistaken for love and love for sex. Excellent poem.

    Correct deduction and to many, speaking for myself, sex is an avenue to spiritual heights, not merely a physical release, although the physical sensation is pleasing, the spiritual realms reached during it are much more exciting for me. Thanks for reading my poem and understanding it in such a deep way.
