Dragon

I have fought the dragon, and slain Him not,
For the Dragon dwells within.
Tis the dark side of my mind against,
I struggle always to win.
So with my trusty sword in hand,
 I face each new attack.
With my pen and wits I push,
 All the bad memories back.
Icy cold are the fires,
That sometimes burn within.
Remnants of things long past,
Remembering all my sin.
Yet the past is gone away,
Never to return.
Still the fiery darts from Him,
With a cold fire burn.

Dman! Now here's one that is right up my drawbridge ... I can so relate to this. Love the metaphor man. I have one called the Monsters Of The Moat that is written in a similar vein. Medieval Metaphors are great aren't they? lol! :) Great Job Pal! :) Ken

dman, we all have our regrets and like beasts they haunt us in the night. But... That's what friends are for....

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
