Poem Commentary

This is one of those little truths life has taught me.

Dreams

We start out in our lives
young, unlearned, naïve.

As we learn, make friends, and grow,
In dreams we must believe.

We mold them for ourselves,
we see a future bright.

We follow life’s long path,
working with all our might.

And then one day we realize
our future is not the key.

It’s for the future of others
our dreams were meant to be.

I really love the message and the way you got it across. The last lines gave me chills. You are so right that it life is all about other people.

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
