Drift Away

Drift Away

Drift away, away from everyone’s eyes

Drift away and sadly say goodbye

Move forward and protect the heart

Let it all go and find a new start

Don’t let them see the pain you feel

Don’t let them see what is actually real

Smile as though everything is ok

Whatever it takes to get through the day

Finally night will come and the tears you’ll cry

Too tired to smile, no longer able to fight

Trying to be strong for those around

But really feeling like you’re about to drown

Will the fear ever really go away

Maybe tomorrow, but obviously not today

just read your poem, very, very nice. reminds me of something I might write, similar to my style. hoping to read more of yours.......

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
