    Drive Me Insane

    From Desert to Jungle

The drifting winds took me from west to east and back again

Somehow, I, a man found his soul uplifted and dropped back…dropped back into the void

The skies darkened, and for a moment, my world faded

As if the moment ceased to exist, and darkness surrounded a bleeding soul

I needed to be free, and so I trudged through the desert sands, seeking my answers

Finding me lost now, in the torrid rains, festering swamps and entranced by the webs

Life has woven through my heart to rend my mind into digestible pieces

Dreams broken, souls destroyed and a heart wrapped in bitterness

I walked, fighting my demons and gators and phantoms of the pasts

Casting aside my angelic countenance; adopting the visage of a waking Dragon

The heat picks up now as near the thickening brush; the signifying depth of my soul

Thick as tar, and just as black, where I couldn’t hope for any light to pierce

Though the Light of God shines in my heart, this hellish test wouldn’t permit its passage

I look back once again, my eyes burning with Hell’s fury, Man’s disappointment, Heaven’s Sorrow

Wondering where did I go wrong on this trip

That I would be cast out like my Name is Lucifer

Though I was devil in an Angel’s guise

Upon my lips, my words wearied, my soul ceased to breathe, my heart didn’t even care to soften

Steely my steps were as I crossed into the deepest thicket

I was trapped, locked in my own thorny soul

And into the Eyes of The Dragon

    Was there ever an escape?

Breaking the seals, I undid everything I was to become this… creature

Devoid of life, a killer, a machine, loss of humanity

And I realized then, in my deepest, darkest portion of my soul, lost in the Jungles of Misery

Drowning in the Swamp of Bitterness, swept up in the Twisters of Agony, struck with a bolt of Lightning

Called Rage and burning in the Wildfires of Despair

I gave up these things when I left that night, and I knew that it would never return

Who I was now was irrelevant,

I wasn’t anything but a killer, a hellacious angel, with the voice of a seductive vampire, mindset of a devil

Rage of a Dragon and in the form of a Man

Moreso, I discovered that I was driven insane, broken on the wheel by what I feel

Once more I look back to see the memory which banished me from the Valhalla I long sought

Now I am tired, but ever more stronger

Because I have shed what made me human, divorced what gave my heart life

And now, I am what I have always feared

I am soulless, and I am a Man numbed by Hell’s Ninth Circle

My words are Hot as the Circles of Violence

My hand holds the Sword of Destruction

And in my wake as I leave the jungle, the Fires which burned in my soul become River of Boiling Blood

Where I may not return, but

    I dare you to follow

wow, you amaze me, even if I sit in the face of shakespeare, or angelou, or even hughes, I could not produce greatness such as this, oh how sorrow floods the gates of pain but gives way to beautiful art. You my tortured dear are a complete masterpiece.

Sounds of a man that's become introduced to a familiar visual of damaging plights.. great to read that your still up for the fight ... a show of strength , courage , wrapped in intelligent splendor ..

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
