    Poem Commentary

    This poem is about Anxiety. Not the emotion but the disorder. I'm talkin bout the chemical reaction and adrenaline surge that comes with acute anxiety attacks. And all physical and physiological symptoms that come with it. The 'drowning' sensation.

    Drowning

     Wouldn't believe the sensation I get...
    Mind at unease, soul at unrest...
    The best of the best might not withstand this test...
    There's always a price for the blessings one gets...
    My head a balloon and the string is my neck;
    threatens to float up away from the rest...
    Some people say  anxiety is a self-induced disease.
    What better way to callously add insult to injury?
    Like a sponge fulla water that nothing can squeeze
    I drift down the river and into the sea...
    Where I start to get dizzy and struggle to breath;
    Stomach starts fizzing, I beg the Lord please!
    My heart is too busy, my lungs don't provide;
    The vision is blurry, I tremble inside...
    I take things in stride...I listen...I pray...
    So why does my body behave in this way?
    When I find the final answer,
    I'll be sure to let everyone know...
    And the waves will still crash at my Tropic of Cancer
    and the wind will continue blow....
