    East of Eden

East of Eden we have been cast
    Into this world of woe--
    A battle rages in us
Through the evil one, our foe.

A way that seemeth right to man
    Will not lead the way--
    For blinded men cannot guide
    From darkness unto day

A blind man he can feel the sun,
    But not perceive the light.
He can not tell when it is day
Or tell when it is night.

    Until his eyes are opened
    He fumbles through his world.
The light of God is Jesus
    As written in His word.

    Faith it comes by hearing
Not by touch or feel or sight--
    Until Gods word is quickened
Man remains in dark of night.

    The lightness of the moon
    Reflected by the sun
    The light is always there
    Although it may seem gone

There's no such thing as darkness
    Merely absence of the light
The light is always with us
    Even through the night

The light of God is Jesus
    As written in His word--
    But men remain in darkness
    Until Gods word is heard.

The light shines on the heart of man
And then he sees his way--
The path is clear to heaven,
    Jesus leads the way

"Let there be light", God sayeth--
    And instantly there is.
The light shines through the darkness
    To eternal life and bliss.

    The holy spirit guides us
    Through this world of woe--
And when we slip, as we all do
    We now can boldly go--

    Before the throne of grace
Obtaining help in time of need--
The word of God to help us
If we will let him lead

    He never will forsake us
    No matter what we do--
    With darkness all around us,
    The light keeps shining through.

    He layed the earths foundation.
    He created us to live--
    Eternal in the heavens--
It is His gift to give

    The gift of life eternal
    Through Jesus Christ the Son
    The gift was freely given
And when His work is done--

    We'll see the New Jerusalem
    The glorious city of peace
Always decked in Gods pure light
    Where darkness has deceased

The light of the world forever--
No sin, or death or strife
Sweet fellowship with our dear Lord,
    This is eternal life!

Once I was blind but now I see
    I'm guided by the light,
The light shone through the darkness
And I am blessed with sight.

East of Eden I blindly walked,
To sin I was a slave
    My bonds released through Jesus,
    My sinful soul he saved.

The life I live is not my own
He bought me with his blood--
A sinner still in this old world
And yet I'm viewed as good.

Through the precious life of Jesus
I now am viewed to be,
    Dead to sin and trespass
    And without iniquity.

Uphold the light and let it shine!
    A beacon through the night
That through the veil of darkness
Men may come to see the light!

Awesome Poem, Ver very creative, and great alliteration and word choice. Continue to spread the GREAT WORD of the LORD OUR GOD, for He is the lamp that guides our feet, and in this case our hands too!!!

Thank you for your kind words. There is no greater thing then to serve the Lord who purchased us from the slave market of sin. We have been plucked as "brands from the burning" Again I thank you. God bless and Keep you.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
