Echo Of A Life

Poem Commentary

This poem was the result of how I feel when I visit my grandparents' house. My grandmother passed away a bit ago and it is difficult to move forward sometimes.

Echo Of A Life

My eyes won’t close

I’m afraid I’ll see your ghost

Asking us to save you

There was nothing we could do

But watch you fade

Now there’s an echo on the stairs

That I don’t like to see or hear

Compared to the one you

Left behind it’s just as bad

He’s sad

We don’t ask questions

We just reflect

And don’t forget

Memories of a family

That is here without you

We’re sad

We miss you

The things we did and the way you lived

The bullet we thought you dodged

It came back to haunt us

There was nothing we could do

We still miss you

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. It is always hard losing the people you care about and love.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
