    Elixir

I had it in my mind once
    When the snow fell
    It drifted, blew
Piled up in front of the door
    A vision came
    It scattered, fled

It was in my heart once
    When the rockets flared
    They blossomed, bloomed
Ash fluttered away on the breeze
    A memory came
    It haunted, reminded

It lived in my soul once
    When the waves crashed
    They roared, receded
    Footprints melted into the sand
    An epiphany came
    It startled, caressed

    And vanished

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
