Eraser

The rage boils the blood in my veins
And turns my limbs into dust.
I can feel the warmth in my soul as it drains
Flowing over my heart as it rusts.

When the sun rises I pull down the blind
And attempt to shut myself far away.
Your voice is there, taunting and screaming
Just how much can your betrayal weigh?

Visions of another time cannot leave my thoughts
I'm gasping, I'm gasping, I'm choking, I'm crying
Is this what my sins have brought?
Here is the crime, this is where I lay near dying.

I endeavored to erase it, to forget that dreadful day
The day I became cold, callous and ever twisted,
Kissed hate and cast angels away,
And rubbed out my name so I never existed.

oh my god..short but extremely profound..the last line is my favorite.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
