Poem Commentary

A poem of the contemplation of mortality, coming to terms with it and finally, the realization that we live on through our influence on the people around us..., however subtle or strong that influence may be.

Everlasting

All that was before me,

all that is to come.

What will remain
when my day is done?

An echo of influence…,

a whisper on the winds
of dynamic becoming.

Echoing into
the vaults of eternity.

When all that I am
is covered over.

A wonderful expression in poetic form, imagery, and motion, in expressing the "big question"...Bravo!!

great write!! brings reality home -- we are so small in the big picture - and big in the small picture . . . . what will matter in 100 . . . 1,000 . . . .or more years from now ??-- so many things that seem so important to us on a daily basis - are irrelevant -- the legacy we leave with our children and our children's children -- that is truly what matters . . . thank you for a very reflective piece

Well written! We are all but particle of dust according to the Bible, and to dust we will return when we are through upon this journey. Some will leave their footprints upon the sands of time, but many will be wiped away by the tides of progress, life, and the greater treads of those who follow. I guess, to me, the ultimate eulogy - and stamp of a successful life- are my children. Maybe, in some distant time when I am gone, someone will be able to look at my children and see the man that I am now. That is my fervent hope and prayer.

Acceptance at its best! The way you manage to communicate philosophy to the reader blows me away! Short, simple, yet powerful message!

This is a wonderful contemplation. I think we all as humans wonder what will be when we are no longer. This piece leaves the mind in deep thought. Thanks for sharing. :o) Bj
