    Everyone But Themselves

    Don't have a very high opinion of you
    as the years flutter by
    infrequently they pop out of the woodwork
    with another self indulgent
    self righteous crusade
    that benefits nobody but themselves

    Maybe I should name names
    these  inflated egos that conspire
    wanting everything
    including their hearts desire
    but I'm too tired to play another round
    of these one way games
    people are strange
    getting off on this pain
    they aim to inflict
    on everyone
    but themselves

    Lets throw our brother beneath the bus
    and they wonder why
    I have issues with trust
    sorry to disappoint
    if you're waiting for me to cry
    go ahead and try

    Confide in me then ride me
    the last email read like some form letter
    I saved it for posterity
    or maybe for its hilarity
    a good laugh guaranteed
    for everyone but themselves

    How can you take my written thoughts
    these emotionally driven words
    hoping to drive a wedge
    or push me over the edge
    but that's never going to occur

    Even the eventual death of me
    with it's impartial uncertainty
    will never silence these thoughts
    so this pointless anger that you wield,
    with your tarnished humanity
    a vendetta fueled by banality
    another cherished moment made unreal

    Wow, I'm at a loss for words but I do have to say Im always amazed at how hard you can hit the nails head,,,,the wood , my soul needing this literary penetration.
