    Poem Commentary

    Part two of the lost love series. Again when we held hands is the final poem in culmination to this one.

    Face to Face

     Now later that day, when the sun was high,
    And its heat did not turn nigh,
    She and i had a moment i will never forget,
    It to this day is something i wish i could have expanded on as i sit here with regret,
    She looked at me face to face,
    The way a lover looks at you steady in their place,

    I might add that i caught her looking at me several times but did nothing,
    Until after a while curiousity sparked something,
    There was not a smile nor a frown,
    But her eyes, the windows to her soul, the golden brown,
    Retinas told a whole another story,
    They were true and looked at me with deep intent,
    So much so i got uneasy and afraid, as if i had to repent,

    But i calmed down because i often looked away,
    Never used to a girl looking at me like that, i knew then that she was seeing me with a different sway,
    We just had a very good moment down by the water, the stuff of legend,
    Better than i ever imagined,
    But this was different, this was the look that could bring two people together,
    This was the look where i had to take action or be lost forever,

    But what to do at 15? How to seal the deal? Go further? Lock arms and hands?
    How do i turn that deep look to a look with a smile, one everyone understands?
    I did try, i even spoke, saying "What?" several times, but it did nothing but made her look at me more,
    Nervous and shy i looked away only to look back and emplore,
    Was it my hair?, ok its nappy ill comb it,
    But it didnt matter cause she didnt care about it,

    It was all new to me and i was just trying to handle the situation when the best way was to just go with the flow,
    So i did that, i just let go,
    I moved a little closer, face facing the sand and head and eyes pointed toward hers,
    I did what she did, and looked intently until a smile over me occurs, And i look away,
    I try again, and finally slow motion happens, it happened that day,
    Eyes locked by the Redondo bay,

    I wanted to take my hand and caress her face,
    Kiss it gently and feel its grace,
    Look into those eyes and find the joy,
    That eluded me since birth, much less a little boy,
    That is what i wanted and knew it should have happened,
    But, thats just not how it happened,

    The stare was a long stare indeed,
    But ended up with an indifferent result and creed,
    She eventually turned her face,
    Damn i thought, I lost this race,
    I stood looking, hoping she would turn and look back,
    But the moment was gone like a smoker who runs through a cigarette pack.

    no, that is a different experience all in of itself
