    Faded memories

    I chase away the tears
    brought on by your absence.
    Even after all these years,
    within me there is sadness.
    I miss the touch of your soft skin
    spooned against me in the night.
    Memories of you are growing dim,
    and fading out of sight.
    No longer do I see that smile
    which brightened up my life.
    been blind and in the dark awhile,
    with pain and sorrow rife.
    They say with time this pain will leave,
    my heart shall fully mend.
    I wish this I could believe,
    that all my pain would end.
