Fallen Spirits

Fallen Spirits

The two weary feet walk
Upon the slumber leaves,
For it feels of past death and
Fallen spirits of those unknown.
The dirt torn uniform hangs
Wearily from the shoulders,
For the battle has yet to be won.
In the heart of the broken
The tears fall silently within each
Blink of an eye,
Speaking of only the names
Felt within the soul of the comrade.
The sigh is heard upon the ears
Of the angels
As their wings spread across
The clouds.
The prayer is heard but only
A whisper
For the soldier is finally
Coming home.

This is dedicated to all the soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may have the strength to build upon of yet another hero.
