Falling Out Of Love

Falling Out Of Love

Relief comes,
As I fall out of love.
Sighing as pain subsides:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
The pleasure of respite!

Tears come,
As I fall out of love.
It has been an age
Since finding comfort
in me.
How welcome --
The joy of loving me!

And if there is sadness here,
It no longer lingers
Maliciously.
It sighs and reposes instead,
easy to bask in the sun,
easy to sip on a cool drink.

We are friends now.
We are friends now.
We are friends now
falling out of love.

Smiles return,
As I fall out of love.
He is gone from me --
This body,
His shrine no longer.

My heart becomes whole,
As I fall out of love.
No longer belonging to him,
I am mine
Again.

I am mine!

My eyes seek the first glimmers of tomorrow
No longer seeking the shadows of yesterday

And my heart?

We are friends now.
We are friends now.
We are friends now
falling out of love.

When looking in the mirror,
My new love gazes at me.

She smiles at me,
Her eyes radiating
Her heart's love for me.

And oh yesssss...

We are friends now.
We are friends now.
We are friends now...
Falling out of love.

Thank you for visiting my poetry corner again! Exactly as you said -- I've reconnected to life again. It's so pleasant to finally be at peace with myself!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
