    wenn du meinst.

    Was hab ich getan?

     

    Du stirbst,

    wenn du dich wirbst.

    Du atmest nicht;

    dein bleich Gesicht.

    Was hab ich getan?

     

    Ich sehe dich nicht mehr.

    Du hast zu viel Gegenwehr.

    Was hab ich getan?

     

    Wir halten uns getrennt.

    Es bekennt.

    Was hab ich getan?

     

    Warum haßt du mich?

    Ich wehtue innerlich.

    Was hab ich getan?

     

    Es tut mir Leid.

    Du hast kein Beileid.

    Was hab ich getan?

     

    Es verbraucht dich.

    Bin ich nicht dienlich?

    Was hab ich getan?

     

    Du hast mich gesagt:

    “Du hast versagt.”

    Was hab ich getan?

     

    Es ist Mitternacht

    von diese Nacht.

    Was hab ich getan.

     

    Du müßt meine Beichten lesen.

    Du wird mich verzeihen.

    Ich hab dir nichts getan.

     

    Translation:

     

    You cry

    when you consider.

    What have i done?

     

    You die

    when you advertise yourself.

    What have i done?

     

    You don't breathe;

    your pale face.

    What have i done?

     

    I don't see you any more.

    You have too much resistance.

    What have i done?

     

    We stay separated.

    It confesses.

    What have i done?

     

    Why do you hate me?

    I hurt internally.

    What have I done?

     

    I am sorry.

    You have no sympathy.

    What have I done?

     

    It consumes you.

    Am I not helpful?

    What have I done?

     

    You have said to me:

    “You have failed.”

    What have I done?

     

    It is midnight

    of this night.

    What have I done?

     

    You must read my confessions.

    You will forgive me.

    I have done nothing to you.
