Fan-fanatic 2009

The basketball game is on
Where is dad ?
Dont bother him

She enters the room
Basketball, baseball,football
Dad play ball with me
No! he`s glued to the tube

I hate you dad
He only cares for his sports
Every season without a good reason
Dont bother dad

The ball is in the air
He shoots it up and in
and through the rim

The way i see it No score!
only a smirk from row 4
Then jack yells out with no style
Technical foul

Dad only sees what he wants to see
but does not see me

Dad sitting in his shorts
As i cry out
I will never marry
A man whose
First love is sports !

Wow. I like this poem its like seeing it from another side. I think you did a great job. Its very rare to read a poem written like this. You can feel how that person feels. Good use of descriptions in your words.

I love the fact that you made this from a daughters point of view instead of a son. It has a deep meaning and sends a strong message of the resentment that can be put to a person when they depend more on television then on people that mean so much more.

its interesting where you dont quite see at first that its from a daughter's point of view however it then makes me wonder what would cause you to write this, its pointful that so many people get engrossed into one thing or another so bad that we forget about the important things

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
