    • Very excited and very grateful. My son Michael will be coming back to American soil in about 12 days I want to thank all of you for your prayers and well wishes and strength.

    Farewell Summer

The air is quite fragrant this morning,
    Having been thoroughly washed
    And rinsed clean
    By last evenings rainstorm.
A cool breeze wound its way
    Through the yard,
    Fluttering the leaves awake
And rippling a puddle at the far end.

    Summer seemed to have languished
    Far too long.
    Hot days
    Humid nights
    Long into the calender
    When days should be cool
And windows left open at night.

The grass (that is much too high)
    Waves good morning
    As I return once again
    To rock in my hammock,
    Lazily reminiscing
    The Summer past,
    Sipping coffee and dreaming
Of what is yet to come.

I love it! And no locusts, quite a relief. I like the alludatory (is that a word?) vision of coffee on a winter's dusk, ie, really cold! You construct the most palatable imagery I've ever read. Shiverish write! An uncontrollable IO!

Fall - that is what is coming and all the beautiful colors and crisp air - and apples. Lots of apples. Such sweetness in the place - this time. Your words are lovely and easily transitioned to life's metaphor. Thank you. ~Pamela

no color or apples here in Texas... we miss all the autumn fun. But what we do celebrate in the Houston area is the cooler temps... thanks for taking the time, mlea

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
