    Fear

I feel my blood rushing through my veins
I can hear every beat of my heart
And Oh!  I can feel the pain
Fear, fear fear from the start
    My body shakes
Bad thoughts rushing through my mind
My head spins, spins, and begins to ache
Strength inside myself I MUST find.

I tell myself to stay calm
    Soon this fear will end
I will not allow them to do MORE harm
    My rights I WILL defend.

    On justice I will call
These vandals will have THEIR day
    YES, YES thats the law
The good will win -  I pray.

    The fear slowly eases away
I give a great big sigh
Tell myself everything is going to be ok
I ask myself why? why? why?

    Are they bored?
    Are they mad?
Don't they believe in the Lord?
Yes, yes, YES! It makes me MAD MAD MAD!!!

I really love this poem. You as a writer can bring one right into the fear you are feeling.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
