What is this fear, that lives inside of us from deep within,

Is it the distinction of knowing or the chill down your skin,

Is it the heart stopping second that takes away your breath,

Stealing the air from your lungs till there is nothing left,

The hair stands up on your arms and legs so fast and tall,

Your body seems frozen to where you can't move at all,

That instant moment where you feel like you had déjà vu,

When images you think you've seen start to pass through,

Your mind becomes bewildered and you can't think straight,

As time stops and your living something you didn't create,

Panic flows through your body as your heart rate rises,

Filled with nightmares from before masked in disguises,

The sweat begins to run from all of your soaked glands,

You wipe your brow off but it burns from your sweaty hands,

You gasp for air as you pray for this to flee your troubled mind,

Only to open your eyes and it is still fear that you always find,

Is it fear itself, that bounds us in chains to make us scared,

Or is it the fear of one's reality of our burdens being bared,

Fear not your fears, or what lies twisted inside your dreams,

Fear, fear itself, because sometimes things aren’t what they seem.
