Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem while fearful about decisions I soon had to make. The bottom line is that my faith came alongside like a tug boat to move me to make she decision which I have never regretted to this very day. I never claimed to be a poet but this poem developed in the midst of a decision which thoughts I could not resist writing down.

Fear

Fear

Fear and anxiety life’s terrible twosome
Destroying my hope and leaving me lonesome.
Fear held close by as if by desire,
As I may reach to touch the warmth of a fire.
Fear grips the air as decisions draw near,
Is it right is it wrong with whom can I share,
When filled with life’s worry and choked with despair.
I cradle my fear as a babe tight in arms,
Cuddled and nurtured seduced by her charm,
Fearing the future and its possible harm.
Fear always thinks about impending doom,
missing life’s joy and seeking its gloom,
Losing the courage to face life’s potential
Knowing that fear is more emotion than mental.
Does the road up ahead offer promise or loss,
One only knows when one pays the cost.
Fear tightens it’s grip snarling and snaring,
Curling it’s lip with hopes none sparing,
Unless we through faith live our lives daring.
So walk through the day and walk through the fire,
And you may find your deepest desire.
Fear fills a life that is lived without faith,
Neither trusting nor hoping just living with waste.
So this is my poem which expresses my fear,
Often denied but still lurking there,
So live by faith and conquer your fear,
And you will find hope and not fear standing near. Fear

Fear is something that everyone can relate to and we all have had to face at one time or another, Very well done.

This poem captures the angst that comes from having to make hard choices in life, something we all have to do at one time or another.

Ken it's very nice and so true. It's inspiring and encouraging to know that we can weather the storm through faith. Although it may be scary and confusing when we are dealing with adversity, it is a learning experience and a blessing in disguise. I appreciate you sharing this with me. Please send me more.

I think you set out to express your own sentiments but in turn have given voice to many.

Thanks so much for the kind words. You expressed my reason for writing it. More importantly, as you make decisions regarding employment, maybe this poem will keep you focused on the positive and not the negative emotions. Ken
