Poem Commentary

Written in syllabic measure (seven syllables per line)

feathers blowing in the wind

  summer skies provide the breeze

 some alone, some intertwined

some playful as if to tease

feathers dart and dance on high

displaying vivid colors

painting pictures in the sky

like wistful decorators

feathers born of ancient myth

plucked from birds that serve the gods

some struggling as they writhe

all with glittering facades

feathers float to earth each day

you may have seen them landing

they beckon as on display

with essence so commanding

so if by luck you find one

keep it well within your sight

for on the next midnight sun

It may once again take flight

This reminds me of a true story I read in "The Secret".. a man was testing the power of the intention and took a feather and marked it and sent it to the wind. His intention is that he would find the feather and he kept sending out his intention. He was travelling and reaching a tall building looked down and there was the same exact feather with the markings he had made thereon. And, he believe it was his angel who helped him find a job. Anyway, I have gone off the comment but Charlies I love your poetry and this one brought to mind the tale I read. Meantime, this is a ten +++

Thank you dear.

Hampton// Yes this is a poem written in 7 syllablc meter. Nicely done. The over use of (ing) to form the syllable count is a bit weak. But as a whole the poem has strong imagery and a powerful metaphor. Which is quite redeeming. Well written as whole with good openers, strong turning point and a grand closure. Keep up the good writing. A poet friend// RH Peat

Thank you very much. Do you really think that the use of (ing) in two lines out of twenty can be classified as overuse?
