Feeling

Tell me why have I been feeling all this sadness,
All the sorrow that is so deep.
I have no way to take action,
I have no way, no way to breathe.
Everybody asks me, "What's wrong?"
I just shrug it off and stay strong.
My emotions have been mixed up,
Like a cat with a small knit ball.
Is it really what I wanted,
To be left alone from the start?
No, now I seek comfort inside,
But nobody is reaching out.
So many worries to control,
Or else they seep out of my hold.
I look right at you, see you through,
You smile politely right on through.
We never find a best friend, really.
The only best friend is really you.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
