    Fleeting Encounters

    I stalk the world
    like a cat
    padding silently
    into your world
    purring as you pet
    my golden fur
    standing with you
    as long as you hold
    my interest.
    Then something
    you can't see or hear
    or even guess at
    touches my senses
    and I am up and
    out of your life
    and you know no more
    of me then you did
    before I came.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
