    Poem Commentary

Cheryl and I were the closest of friends from age 15 - 25.  Then she moved further south and I moved out of state.  We kept up with cards and letters and even phone calls for many years.  But it's been about 6 years since I've talked with her and about 30 since we've seen each other.  Still when I think of her, I smile.

    For Cheryl

    For Cheryl

I woke up today with you on my mind

Is life being good or is it unkind?
We had such great fun back in the day
I laughed till I cried at things you would say

Our lives so entwined then drifted apart
The miles seperate, but not from my heart
I've told all my children the stories of "you"
You're much of a legend (and most of it's true)

I wonder if I will see you again
Or if those young years were all we would spend
I guess either way, you always will be
My truly best friend - Cheryl Ann Ventry

Thank you for the kind comment!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
