    For Nothing Ever Stays

    For Nothing Ever Stays

Where are the cliffs of Dover?

Whose massive walls held back the raging sea's heaviest assaults

Like a giant Regal King that overlooks the attacking marauders who try in vain to scale his steep, intimidating fortress,

Until the perpetual onslaught eroded to dust at the slayers feet

    For nothing ever stays …..

Where is the Garden of Eden?

A paradise lost to the hissing asp of free will

Whose enticements tricked the woman who had it all!

And brought even the whole of mankind to it's knees,

    beneath a generous masters nose

    For nothing ever stays …..

Where are the great indigenous chiefs?

Fierce warriors who guided his people with honor , respect and compassion

and the greatest of these love and open arms

Until the unforeseen virus of greed and progress crushed their wills to granulated stones

Mere pebbles to cast aside by the trampling armies …..of civilization?

    For nothing ever stays …..

    Where are the great philosophers?

Whose intricate thoughts spurred the masses to attain internal harmony and peace

Words once spoken without agendas , with intricate eloquence

that begged their mysteries be solved....that offered up solutions

Now left behind in dusty old books collected only for their rarity ...unopened

    For nothing ever stays …..

Where HAVE you gone Joe Damagio?

Who played the game out of love ...with an (un)boastful pride and youthful stride

Whose unstoppable determination gained the respect of a nation

Who stood tall with dignity in the bold faces of ...adversity to change

But the game has changed …..to the business of profit

    For nothing ever stays …..

    Where are the peacemakers?

Who spoke not with forked tongues!

And used excessive force only as a last measure...

Humanitarians who understood the necessity of diversity

And understood that a homeland in crises is a house divided and could not stand,

Who sat at a table of diplomacy ...rather than a table of war

Who didn't ignore the stench and tears of the impoverished in our own backyard

    For nothing ever stays …..

    Where are the leaders?

Great men of courage and staunch wills, unyielding to party lines

Respected and trusted by a society of patriots who thought not and acted not... with much cynicism

Orators who spoke with a power to move the masses ...In a language understood

Who played the game straight without an ace up a sleeve!

Who conducted themselves as if a nation was watching , With honor....

    ....And integrity

    For nothing ever stays …..

    Where are the dreamers?

Who thought of ways and unlocked the answers obscured by a scared realism

Who loved the word no, as to overcome a short sighted idealism

Thinkers that created optimism and hope in times of darkness and stagnation

Spirits who held the belief that the impossible is merely … Just a mountain to climb

    For nothing ever stays …..

    Where are the gods?

    For we know the monsters!

    Where is the rain?

    For we feel the drought!

    Where is the healing?

For we are all affected by the sickness!

    Where is the truth?

For we have heard the lies!

    Where is the silence?

For we hear the incessant chatter!

    For nothing ever stays

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
