    FOREVER

     I watched her eyes in sorrow
    for the only life she knew
    was about to leave her
    there was nothing she could do
    she sat there for hours
    staying at his side
    holding the hand that once held hers
    when they were both so alive
    almost a life time together
    from near childhood they grew
    bonded to each other in love so pure and true
    now her life is over
    but she herself remains
    only memories can hold her
    but does not stop the pain
    of what she had almost forever
    was now gone.

    This is such a powerful topic. Very beautiful, but I think you could get more out of it if you included a few specific details - like exactly how many years they spent together, or where they grew up/a game they used to play together. These are just suggestions of course,

    well actually this poem was inspired by a couple I was with in the last moment of her dying husband. They had been married for 65yrs and it was something so painful and beautiful to see the love that they had. So I was only expressing at that glimpse of what little I actually knew about there life. But love was surely what I saw.
