Picture Poetry anyone?

How this works;

Just look at the pic, and write.

I will post the pictures by themselves (no poem underneath).
When you want to post a poem with a certain picture, click the quote button under the pic, and then put your poem underneath it.

Sometimes the ideas just flood me, and I write whatever comes to mind, and other times I spend weeks on each line.

RE: Picture Poetry anyone?

Not exactly my best, but I just let myself write and this is what came.

My Cup Runneth Over

Skin as soft as butterfly wings
Ten tiny toes
with impossibly small
delicate little toenails
Toes curl forward
as I brush my fingertips
over the miracle that is you
Innocence, beauty, and hope
are personified
and my heart will
never be mine again
It will forever be held
in your tiny grasp

RPT40 ... the picture is precious

sweetest little baby toes
mama loves those little bows
wiggliee with giggle... those
muffin tops all pinky glows
softer than the velvet rose
made in Heaven, I suppose
God was smiling... to compose
baby toes as angel prose

All the poems on my profile, are based on photos. This is the poem I have posted with this picture. I admit, I touched it up several times -

The Remnants Of Today

Capture a piece of me
before I drift away,
before time removes
the remnants of today.

Hold on to that which you love,
allow me to exist evermore.
To be remembered in warmth and light,
is something, we all endeavor for.

If you feel lost in darkness,
lift your head up high,
see beyond the clouds,
the sun still rules the sky.

Peace can be found in one breath,
eternity in the gentle touch of a hand,
the value of life is countless,
to wonder, is to truly understand.

So I beg of you...

Capture a piece of me
before I drift away,
before time removes
the remnants of today.

My Darling

Time goes slowly when
Two hearts are floating
In the space love creates.

Up is down and down is up
When minds come together
And hearts touch.

Minutes lead to hours
And hours lead to years
Love is a gift fragile and bejeweled.

simoneaugustus and RPT40

You both zero-ed in on the parent directing the 'baby-toes' one in the picture.
I am really touched with your two views... as parents are given the opportunity to shape the direction of their babies' choices...

RE: Picture Poetry anyone? RE: The Dancing Wind

RPT40 -
Your poem is a song of the dance... from the picture, you capture the layers of reality, when visited by the dancers who are in love... and I like the repeat of the verse at closing, impacting, remembering... AND heavenly joyous also...

Marie... I continue to enjoy your work, and I love how you took this picture and spread it wide, throughout time... and my only critique would be to ask for the verses to continue... feeling as if you ended your descriptive poem too early.

BLOOMING ROMANCE

The song of your smile in warm summer wind
Plays soft to my heart as loving begins
I pray while swaying, to touch your bright mind
Hear music sweetened as movement defines

The notes of your voice, melodic refrain
As steps of the dance repeat, love, again
Treasure for jewels: firelight in your eyes
More deep and true blue than heavens blessed sky.

I call, "Come away to savor this dance",
As seeds 'neath time's surface bloom in romance.
From hall's windswept court, in promenade style
In joy of your presence all of life smiles.

Promises spoken, not broken in haste,
Are your mouth's kisses with honeydew taste
Moments are borrowed to hold to your form
Thus shine this night's stars while dancing 'till morn.

Wow! Mars! You wrote it in the box....you are way too talented....now get it down to pentameter on each line and it will be perfect! I’ve already done it in my head while reading....this is an awesome write.

Yes, much credit goes to the selection of the Painting by Gonsalves. If you pay attention there is a progression of anthropmorhisis in the drapes blown by the wind, as they go from cloth, to gown, to dance partner. thanks for the compliment! cool smile

Yeah that's one of the things that made this image stand out to me. The couple is the wind (the man), and the curtain (the woman). Every time I look at this, new words come to mind. Maybe I'll write another.

RE: Picture Poetry anyone?

And a young mother softly sings...."he's got my whole world....in his hands.....he's got my whole wide world....in his hands" Full of life's precious cargo...
so well defined with baby toes.....such innocence a life begins....and starts this cycle all over again....This cycle of life, as we evolve, continues in spite of the puzzels to solve......Our passions fire making way for humane desires.....Love and lust our primal need, created this life from his shared seed.....In you I place my most cherished dreams, watching you grow so fast it seems.....Sweet little soul, from where did you come.....A gift from God, to make me whole.....

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
