RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

This poem (A Letter To Santa) was posted to my page on 12-16-09. Though it is a fictional account, I felt compelled to post it here.

Deer Santa,

Hi, my name is Paul.
I’m sory I mist you at the mall.
I cudnt come cuse I’ve ben ill.
I had to take a grate big pill.

Heres my list. For my lbowls and neesils
I need some pads cuse I gots the meesils
My mom says that’s why my back has welts
I think its cuse she hits me with belts

But I also fall down a lot
And touch the oven when its hot
Oh, and a helmit. One that fits me
It reely hurts when she hits me

She gets mad when she drinks her juse
She tauks kinda funny and her eyes look loose
I try to hid but she finds my place
Then she hits me in the face

Growing up in this house is pretty tuff
I try to fite back but I’m not big enuff
If you bring just one gift for a boy whos four
Bring a big nife, so she wont hurt me anymore.

oh oh

RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

her secret
we were little girls
around the age of nine
she was my friend
lived a few houses down
her father beat her mother
all the time
would wash her hair
it was always dirty
noticed the bruises on her arms
asked her about it
she would cry
one day she told me her secret
because we were moving away
she knew she wouldn’t see me again
said it was her older brother
he’d done bad things to her
things brothers shouldn’t do
held her in my arms
this was the last time
I ever saw my friend

RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

Priority Red .. Priority Blue

she sits alone .. near a sidewalk
adjacent to a busy street
abandoned without a care
left to the mercy of our cruel world

sadly .. her dreams ended recently
she only hopes for kindness
a small bite to eat
a drink of water
a safe place to sleep

her helpless eyes squint
from a continuous stream
of infinite, bright headlights
heartless adults drive on .. passing her by
pretending to not see her plight

a lady stands near chaotic traffic
Is she a caring stranger?
Is she begging for help?
has she walked away from the child?
does she notice this injustice?

perhaps she's a runaway mother
whom has turned her back
was the abandoned little girl's father
killed or being held a prisoner of war?
possibly missing in action?

fortunate children .. stare
out of foggy, handprinted windows
silently thinking .. this could be them
In the waif's place
children that saw her
won't sleep well .. ever again

just around the corner
a policeman writes tickets
city demands capital
must serve the great beast
have to get paid

complete world condition
this dire situation .. has to wait
no time to relate
an important amber alert
priority red .. priority blue

RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

my attacker
my mind went elsewhere
as my body was violated
tried to fight
he was too strong
closed my eyes
while he sated himself…many times
he turned me over and sodomized me
the pain unbearable…beyond belief
wanted to die
prayed for god to take me
when he was through I couldn’t move
blood and semen ran down my legs
he got up and made a drink
lit a cigarette
I curled in a ball and cried
then he said I’m not done with you yet
just need to take a break for a while
I clenched my fists
until I bled
as my attacker began again

*Ode To Ken* CLP and TLP

But An Innocent Child

shameful pain
being unwanted
will never go away
Inner blemishes
deepest .. darkest secrets

forever embedded within my frail heart
every single, unforgotten scar .. a separate story
silent, eternal disturbances are mine
special things I call my own
that'll never be taken away

hidden doubts shan't surface for all to view
life's complexities .. reluctantly, I accept
realizing they're impossible to outgrow
I'd received hate instead of love
needed .. desperately

my feelings won't show
I'll pretend everything Is fine
hoping people will leave me alone
saving their analysis for themselves
or perhaps some unfortunate soul

whilst I continue
searching ahead
never once looking back
forgetting .. for then I was
but an innocent child

RE: RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

Regina - I'm speechless - this is profoundly disturbing, but also very real. If everyone read this, our children just might be a little safer. I cannot think of anything more horrible to befall a human being.

RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

Ode To Ken....CLP & TLP

Many Winters Since Then

since the winters of my childhood
I discreetly observed people's strange ways
too naive to understand their wickedness
I was afraid to ask questions
keeping a silent vigil

my curious determination grew
towards solving their unstable behavior
I'd a desperate need to know the causes
pertaining to their weird characteristics

I wished to be different
not resentfully bitter .. hateful
every other breath
sadness overwhelmed me
with unwanted caresses
tears flowed from my eyes

I hid In the safe solitude of my closet
far .. far .. underneath my bed
from their unintentional destructiveness
I needed love and didn't know where to go

I was too young to run away
the future looked bleak
alas .. I was only five
sanity was my only friend
I could depend on
though it couldn't speak

continuously I'd searched
for the clues to their mannerisms
deciding to never grow up
If what I'd experienced
was what life Is about
many winters since then

RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

I know this is long past for the contest but this subject matter was the theme of my life and I wanted to share for the sake of sharing my own personal horror

Her Secret Sin

The putrid smell of his disease
still lingers on her skin
her lot in life thus far has
been to be his secret sin,

Teaching her things
no child should ever know
all the while telling
her she's such a pro ,

Longing desperately for escape
her mind takes flight.
Until at last with a final push
she sees a wondrous light

Her guardian angel is here now
scoops her up,
to shield her eyes
covers her ears so she's deaf
to her own pitiful cries.

Wipes her bloodied thighs
winces as she tries to erase all trace
of what's happened this night
but the truth
is etched within her innocent
tear stained face

She fails to understand
his attraction to her
after all he is a man,
and she but a wee child
who's cringes at his
outstretched hands.

RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

tough
thought I was streetwise…for a while
grew up in the city
always in trouble as a child
stopped by pimps on the way to school…most days
this was nothing new
noticed the way men looked at me
like my friend’s uncle
he sat me on his lap…fondled me quite often
I ran away at age twelve
went to court many times after that
a juvenile delinquent
is what I was called
they put me away for six months
in a place called long lane
in middletown connecticut
learned to be tough
was the youngest kid there
attacked by lesbians and guards
one of the guards handcuffed me to a bed
tried to rape me…but nara intervened
she was one of the house mothers
she heard my cries
a few weeks later
the doctor who did my internal exam
laughed aloud when he broke my hymen and I bled
found out I was still a virgin
he and the nurse made a joke out of it

RE: Celebrating Kenneth Wooden's Birthday Contest

Because this thread has touched my heart tonight, I wrote this humble little poem.
Thank you Kanicki darling for all you are doing........love asha

Guardian Angel

Oh precious child of trouble and fright
Dry you tears on my shoulder this night

I will wrap my arms around you so tight
An protect you from harm with all my might

Never again shall you shriek in fear
From the monster of life that brought your tears

Let me hold you tight forever more
Until you feel comfort and safe as before

The bad days and nights are gone for good
For you little child, your fears are forever understood

A warm safe blanket of protection from the cold
And this soft sweet teddy bear, a friend to always hold

All doors and windows locked and checked each night
A ballerina light shall glow in your room against darks fright

This house you live now forever to keep you safe and warm each day
And each mornings will find you happy and gay

Forget all the fears of yesterday precious child
Now and forever, safe and protected, is your destiny sweet child

Okay now I'm sobbing my fool head off but these are healing tears Asha and the things I longed for and needed to hear thank you dear sweet soul for giving me something I've craved all of my life

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
