    Friendship

    Friendships like a fire
On a cold night all alone.
Friendship is a part of me
That won’t leave you on your own.

Your friendship’s taught me many things:
To trust, to feel, to love.
    You’ve saved me many nights
From the nightmares I’m made of.

    Friendship made me wonder how
I made it on my own.
    It's what saved me
    From being all alone.

    Friendship’s what keeps me going
    Through the day and night.
It’s what keeps me close to you.
So I can stay in flight.

    I hope you understand now
    How strong our relationship is.
    ‘Cause it will last forever,
And it doesn’t matter what is.

    I will always be here
    When trouble arises.
I’ll be your shoulder to lean on
    In any type of crisis.

That is all I have to say,
And if I left anything out,
I’ll say it in some last lines to you,
    And don’t you dare doubt.
I love you forever and ever
    And don’t forget
    I'll always be here.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
