    From sad to sober

Look at you grinning, from ear to ear,
is that also your fake laugh, I hear.
Pretending to be happy, So they won't know,
Hiding your sadness, don't let it show,

Drugs and sex hide your pain.
Take that last hit, or you'll go insane.
Remembering the time, when you were free.
Is this really the person, you wanted to be.

Push push shove, as we show our love.
Grab your pipe or bong, hide behind your evil shadow.
While we cry, it's here were you belong.

You act like theres no problem, and like things are ok.
your fake smile shines through, even on the darkest of days.
If you gave us half the chance that you gave your evil.
you would see that we care and that we are good people.

day after day we wait for you, your always welcome here,
were waiting paciantly for the moment that we cry our final tear.

Year after year you look in that mirror face down at that line,
We wonder what your thinking, and hoping its your last time.
This is it,your curse is shattered,
    you start remembering
    everything that mattered.

Clean and sober for years to come.
    It couldnt get much better,
Dont know how you did it,
But it could have been this letter.

The animosity in most of the poem reaches out and grabs you by your face as it pulls you into the words! You must be a strong and loving person to have waited so long. This person is lucky to have you in their life. Most addicts really need to quit for THEMSELVES in order for them to beat the denial. That is; they usually won't stay sober for someone else. If they do, it usually doesn't last. That's why I say they need to do it for themselves. After all, who are they lying to? Sure, it may be others in their lives--but most lie to themselves. To conclude: It's nice to think that we can "mend" or "fix" someone's problems in life; but, isn't it hard enough to change ourselves, rather than trying to change someone else? Loved the poem--Great flow and priceless content!!!

You have to live it in order to understand it!

loved this poem...A LOT!! but use spell check, misspelled words really distract the reader and may keep them from appreciating the poem.
