    God's Newest Angel

    This morning when I looked to the sky
    I saw a baby smiling
    And from now until the end of time
    She'll spend none of her time crying
    She'll crawl and laugh and play and run
    Every one of her days will be full of fun
    There will be no sorrow or pain for her
    Just loving Angels to take care of her
    She's living now in Heaven's sky
    And she'll wipe away all tears from mommy's eyes
    Yes, there in Heaven she'll love and play
    And she'll think of her mommy every day.

    This poem is dedicated in loving memory
    of a beautiful baby girl who passed away
    on April 23, 2009. She was five months old.
    Her family misses her very much. They love
    her even more.

    Such a beautiful poem, filled with such raw emotion, bravo! I was flying on cloud nine till the end, then it hit me like a ton of bricks! What an emotionally powerful write, it brings tears to my eyes that flow into a river of emotions that will never see an end, for such a story is sad beyound the words of description! As a poet, I pride myself on being able to describe my inner thoughts and emotions but this poem leaves this poet speechless and in utter awe! So truely sad! I am an ICU nurse and see people die eveyday but they are adults and usually at the end of thier lives so it is much easier to rationalize. When I was in nursing school I wanted to become a peditriac nurse and work with kids, I so love kids! Then we had our ped rotation, one day I took care of a girl, gorget her name, she was 13 and had leukemia. I heped take care of her for weeks and made a real connection with her and her family, she was so positive and full of life! Then she took a turn for the worse and the reaper came to collect his balance, I remember sitting in my car for what seemed like hours just crying. I realized then i could never be a ped nurse, it would haev killed me form the inside out! Your poem is so touching and heartfelt, i sincerely hope it was not your child that was lost, not that it makes it any better. You poem is a beautiful tribute and will help to keep the eternal flame of her memory alive. i can't say no more, I am just to overwhelmed with emotion. Thanks for sharing!     Thank you so much for your comments. I'm overwhelmed by such an outpouring of emotion from what I perceived at the time would be a simple poem to offer, well, attempt to offer a little comfort to a grieving mother. I had intended to make the poem longer, but by the time I had gotten as far as I did, the tears were flowing so heavily that I was having trouble seeing the paper, so that's why it ended where it did. As for your being a ped nurse, I wouldn't be able to either. Anytime a child is hurt, I feel like crying (and often do). My heart breaks for the 13 yr old girl who passed away. I'm not a parent and I don't know any parent could get through losing a child. I wrote a poem called "Tammy Zywicki" about a young woman who was abducted and murdered in 1992 and her killer was never brought to justice. I've never stopped thinking of her after all these years and i don't think i ever will. Sorry, getting off track here. Again, thank you for all the kind things you said about my poem, I truly appreciate it. I'm not on this site as often as I should be and I've only read one or two of your poems, but I've loved the ones I've read. There is a young poet, one of my friends here, "Alyson Alive". Give her a read sometime, she's a brilliant writer for being only 14. Peace to you and yours and I'll talk to you soon.

    Dear Angelchaser, When I began reading this, I thought to myself "What? a child that wouldn't cry?" And having children I thought well, it is a poem so I always keep on open mind. I read on and oh boy, I am utterly speechless! But it is not sad like others I have read about the loss of a love. I was very very extremely touched by this write so I just had to share with my son Angel who is also on the site. Thank you for the good feelings that there is a hereafter.     This poor little girl had a stuffy nose and when her mother laid her down for a nap, she couldn't breathe. When she checked on her a few minutes later, she was turning blue, they called an ambulance, but it was too late. So very sad.

    If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
