God's Promise

God's Promise

Alone feeling lost, feeling broken, tired, sad

I cried out from beneath this dark shroud

looking up, not even a star to light the darkness

Despair settled in, my chest began to ache

Inside I felt like I was dying, my heart began to break

I fell to my knees, in anguish and agony

I asked God please help me

I cannot do this alone

I have tried my own way

Now I am ready to come home

I asked him to forgive me for my rebellion

and my sins

I asked him to bless me, I am here Lord

Please let me in

I felt the Holy Spirit move over me like a wave

Instantly in that moment I knew that I was saved

I accepted jesus, and God said to me

Dear child, Even when you turned away from me

I was with you all the while

Even when you lived life selfishly and pretended

not to care

Even when you did bad things I was always there

when days were good and the sun was bright

and you felt you didn't need  me

because everything seemed to be alright

I was right there with you and could see inside your heart

I was right there waiting we we never far apart

Even when you were far away from me

I was right there by your side

If you had only turned to see

I never leave my children or turn my face the other way

even when my children leave, and go there own way.

I am always your Father and you my child.

Even when you thought you were alone

I was with you all the while.

God I thank you for all your many blessings

Please bless all that read this.

thank you

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
